Maker Moments: Arizona Cactus Pennant

Hi everyone! If you are anything like me, you might be a tad bit slow in moving today since a lot of the festivities of the season are over. As much as I would love to just lay around, the truth is, 24 years ago I had my fourth wonderful daughter and so the party continues! No slacking for me and no slacking here either. Today on the creativity board, I’m bringing you a custom-made pennant. Oh my gosh! I know I say this often but…this is sooooo easy and hardly any work! And, I might add, is very trendy right now.

You only need felt, fusible webbing, sewing machine (optional) and these Spellbinders products:

Platinum Machine-PL-001

Type-Oh Alphabet Contour Die

Cactus Contour Die

Apply fusible web to back of felt and die-cut pieces. Peel backing off pieces and attach to hand cut banner. Iron images onto banner following manufacturer’s instructions for fusible web. Sew or hand stitch embellishment onto Cactus. Attach felted bias strip and tabs to side of banner.

Ok, so how easy was that? Coming soon, another banner or two! What can you make with these dies? Would love to see your style.

XO,

Debi

Each New Day is a Blessing Card – Sneak Peak Video Tutorial

Hello everyone, This is Yana Smakula here at Spellbinders and thank you for joining me today!

This week we are taking a look at some of the new dies and collections coming to Spellbinders in 2017. I’m going to share peek at Becca Feeken’s Graceful Border Collection.

I started working on this card by die cutting base panels for my project. I used dies from the 6×6 Matting Basics A and B sets and die cut squares out of shimmer gray cardstock and glitter patterned paper. I didn’t do any embossing here, I simply cut those out. You can emboss these if you’d like to add some detail to the panels.

For my borders I used gold foil paper and I die cut 2 borders at once. I used a border from the Graceful Damask set and a border from the Graceful Brackets set leaving some space in the center to accommodate the ribbon.

I also die cut another border from the Graceful Damask set and for this one I used shimmer gray paper.

I needed to die cut a few more pieces to complete this card, so I cut 3 circles using Large and Small circle dies. The largest one was cut out of shimmer gray paper, medium one – out of gold foil and for the top small one I used white paper where I stamped a sentiment.

The last two pieces I needed were corners from the Graceful Corners One set and I cut those out of gold foil paper.

Create a Glitter Vintage Ornaments Christmas Card

Hi It’s Christina here again and there are not many more sleeps to Christmas now so I hope you got all your cards ready and posted in time. But if not then here is a quick and easy one to make and any left over glitzy card can be used to create the baubles.

Spellbinders Supplies:

Other Supplies:

Glitter Card in chosen colours

Smooth white stamping card

Distress Inks in Wild Honey and Fired Brick

Black Ink for sentiment

Ink Blenders

Water Spritzer

Sentient Stamp

Clear embossing powder

Instructions:

With die #7 from Matting Basics A cut two panels. Score and fold one of them by about half an inch and add glue along this small fold. Attach them together to create the base card.

With die #7 from Matting Basics B cut another panel in some smooth white stamping card.

With the ink blenders and the two inks carefully blend them on the smooth white card and when done spritz the panel with clean water from the spritzer bottle. Leave for a few seconds and then dab off the excess water with a paper towel to reveal the blotches in your panel.

Once the panel is dry stamp in black ink your chosen sentiment and then heat emboss with clear powder.

Cut the ornament dies in the colours you have chosen from glitter card or mirror card.

Arrange them with foam pads onto the coloured panel in a pleasing way and tie gold thread into a bow through each of the ornament hangers.

Then with foam between the layers add this to the base card.

And there you have a quick and easy card to send to family and friends.
